LV Web Sites (arranged
in order of estimated usefulness to LV modelers)
Anthracite
Railroads Historical Society - The only
historical society covering the Lehigh Valley Railroad in depth for railfans and
modelers. See this web site for information about subscriptions and back issues
of Flags, Diamonds and Statues magazine, upcoming meetings and annual
conventions, and sales of LVRR books and models, some available only
through the ARHS.
John
W. Campbell's Lehigh Valley Railroad Page
- A great source for photos of LVRR equipment. 9 pages of steam photos, 7 of
diesel locomotives, plus passenger & freight cars, cabooses, towers,
stations, bridges, employess. Other features are a complete scan of Employee
Timetable No. 11, 9/28/1947, a database of information about wrecks on the LVRR,
and a chronology of presidents of the LVRR.
Railroading
in the Northeast: Lehigh Valley Roster
- Another good source of LVRR diesel roster shots,
with multiple photos of many engines. Also features a nice system map showing
connecting railroads, the complete text of "One Hundred Years of The Lehigh
Valley," an address given in 1946, a condensed LVRR history, and a 1938
list of employees.
George
Ellwood's Fallen Flags Photos (LVRR)
- The largest web collection of roster photos,
including some freight cars and cabooses. Good selection of LV photos, but check
out the other railroads while you are there, particularly for run-through or
leased locomotives or rolling stock that appeared frequently on the Valley!
Robert
Staples' BlueComet.com LVRR Page - Nice shots of LVRR diesels in the final
years.
John
Rust's SD45.com Lehigh Valley Page - Great roster shots from the 1970s.
Cornell
Railroad Historical Society's Lehigh
Valley Railroad Historical Website
- Several short articles on the history of the
LVRR, and two pages of photographs.
Henry
Sundermeyer's Fallen Flag Railroads of New Jersey: Lehigh Valley - A great
source for grade profiles, and track profiles of the LVRR's New Jersey trackage.
Also contains 1923 and 1949 passenger schedules.
Railway
Excess Agency's Jasper N Haines' Lehigh Valley Scrapbook - Steam locomotive
photos compiled from the scrapbook of Jasper N Haines, LVRR General Manager
1931-41
Lehigh
Valley Wyomings on steamlocomotive.com - A brief history with specifications
and links to photos for LVRR's 4-8-4 steam locomotives.
James
Mack's "semi-official Lehigh Valley Railroad website" - A small
site with personal photos and memories of the LVRR.
Bill
Kisselstein's Lehigh
Valley Mail List Photo Page - A good source for LVRR
operations documents such as Train Data Sheets
(form 166), Train Orders (form 19), and excerpts from some timetables and
manuals. The photo section has been shown as "under construction" for
over a year. Home of the lehighvalleyrr
e-group.
Lehigh
Valley Railroad Archives - Home of the LVRR
Forum, a web-based discussion group. Also contains mileage tables for
some branch lines.
Bernd
Fanghanel's Lehigh Valley RR Page - Photos of the LV in and around Rochester
Jct, where Bernd lives.
Other
Prototype-Oriented Web Sites (arranged
alphabetical order)
Steam
Era Freight Cars Ted Culotta's excellent new web site has the same
philosophy as LVRR Modeler, but is directed at steam era freight cars in
general. An excellent reference for prototype photos from the steam era.

LVRR Maps On-Line
MapQuest
shows the LVRR trackage, if you zoom in far enough, and has links to
corresponding aerial photos, which although taken long after the track was torn
up, still show the right of way in many cases. Here is the link for Coxton
Yard.
MapBlast!
shows the LVRR trackage in red, making it a little easier to follow, but does
not link to aerial photos. Here is the link to their version of Coxton
Yard.
MapsOnUs
is similar to MapBlast! in features. Here is their Coxton
Yard map.
Terraserver
shows both aerial photos and topo maps, linked to each other. Here is their Coxton
Yard topo map, and their 1992
aerial photo. Note that the legend on the 1983 topo map shows Conrail, not
LVRR as do the first three map services.
Topozone
sells topo maps, and the ones you can see on the screen don't show the same
detail as available on Terraserver. Also, there are no links to aerial photos.
Here is Topozone's Coxton
Yard map.
